We have been working on writing an entertaining beginning for our winter adventure stories. Today we learned that a good beginning will include one of the following: an action - What would you do?, dialogue or exclamation - What would you say?, a thought/question - What are you wondering about?, or a sound - What would you hear?
Here is an example of a boring beginning related to a haunted house: Hi, my name is Kate. I will tell you about my adventure exploring a haunted house! Here is an example of revising the boring sentence for something that will grab the readers attention using an action: My hands trembled as I opened the creaky old door of the deserted house.
Pink Shirt Day was a success at PHS yesterday! The students were able to fill the board with awesome messages of kindness!
