Monday December 4th 2017

Highlights 

We got straight to work this morning. We started the day with morning challenge. We're continuing to work on adding a predicate to a sentence. For math, we finished lesson 2 of our data analysis unit. Homework for lesson 1 and 2 went home today. Please help your child complete this work. We had music. The students are getting ready for the winter concert. We have 3 students who's names were drawn at random and they will have a small speaking part in the concert. A piece of paper with their part went home with them today. After recess we had gym. We had daily 5 today. I met with the blue and read groups today. After lunch we had spelling. The new list is in their green folder. We then had writing and social studies. In social studies we're continuing to learn about India. Today we discussed its physical features and its currency. Thank you Japneet for bringing in some rupees for us to see.

Important Information:

• No School Friday December 8th 
• The school is collecting non-perishable food items for the Mayor's Food Drive. If you would like to donate the student's can bring in the items in the morning and put them in the boxes at the front of the school. The food will be going to the Calgary Food Bank. Deadline to bring in food donations has been extended to THURSDAY DECEMBER 7th 
• Winter Concert is on Wednesday December 20th. There will be two shows. Students are asked to be at both performances. Afternoon Performances
  Kindergarten, grade 1 & grade 2: 12:40-1:40
  Grade 3 &4: 1:45-2:45
  Evening Performances
  Kindergarten, grade 1 & grade 2: 5:30-6:30 pm
  Grade 3&4: 7:00 – 8:00 pm

• Math tests sent home today! 

Reminders:

• Book Orders are due December 11th. If you would like to purchase book orders as a gift for your child for Christmas. I can arrange pick up at the office or send it home in a sealed box. Please let me know if you're interested in this 😊
• School Activity fees and Lunchroom Incidental Activity fees were due on November 16th. 
• The students are asked to bring in any Rupees (Indian currency) to share with the class during social studies. 
• Healthy Hunger: To register your child for Fun Lunch, please visit www.healthyhunger.ca 
• Our class Library checkout day is every Thursday. Please return library books each week!
