Thursday, Sept. 14th, 2017

Highlights:
This week we've continued to work on increasing patterns. Please have your child work on the review sheets that are sent home after each lesson is taught. They should be working on the sheets with an adult or having them checked over by an adult.

In Science, we've been talking about the different properties of rocks. The students learned that rocks are classified (sorted) by their shape, size, smell, texture, luster and hardness. They used magnifying glasses to look closer at the rocks they brought in from home and made a sketch of their rocks in their visual journals.

We have currently reached 10 minutes of brain stamina in Daily 5 - Read to Self. This means that the students are able to read independently, focus on their reading material, stay in one spot, start right away, and read quietly for the full duration of 10 minutes.

We took a spelling review quiz for this week's words. They will be sent home tomorrow.
