Highlights:
It's been a great first week of school so far! We are jumping into the curriculum already and the students are doing a great job. We have been going over a lot of classroom expectations and read the story, The Golden Rule. We expect every person in our class to follow the golden rule and treat others the way they want to be treated.

We had our Welcome Back Assembly today and met Ms. Paull, the new principal! She read a book called, A River. She explained that sometimes a river is smooth and sometimes it can get choppy, much like the way we learn academically and grow socially.

Every morning we begin each day with Morning Challenge. This week we've worked with play dough (Tuesday), toothpaste (Wednesday), gummy candies (Thursday) and marshmallows and pasta (Friday).

We started our Pattern Unit in Math. The students brought home a sheet for Lesson 1. This means that lesson has been completed in school and we would like to have the students working on the review sheet at home. There is a section called 'quick review' that goes over the concepts taught to the students. They should try and answer the practice questions at their own pace and go through them with an adult at home. These sheets will not be returned to school, unless you have a question or your child needs further support with it.

Reminders:

  • Please go on a nature walk over the next couple of days. We would like the students to collect a rock and bring it to school before Tuesday, Sept. 12th
  • Forms were sent home today. Please fill them out and return all blue forms as soon as possible.

Homework:
We will be providing homework expectations on the blog next week.
