We started our morning with math. Today's lesson focused on estimating differences. When you estimate a difference, you predict a number that is close to the exact number you would get by subtracting. Example: 52-38=? Round both numbers to the closest 10 and subtract. 50-40=10. The answer is about 10. After math we had music and an indoor recess. After snack we went to the gym for our Jump Rope for Heart assembly. A package of information went home today. Attached to the package is a pledge form/envelope. There are two ways to collect pledges. Student's can collect cash/cheques or collect donations online. Please follow the instruction in the package to collect donations online. After our assembly, student's had free writing time.
After lunch we had computers. The bulletin board outside of our classroom has been turned into an Olympic medal count chart. Student's are working with a partner to track medals won by a specific country. The student's used the computers to locate the country their responsible for on a map as well as track the amount of medals won by that county so far. See the picture below.
After Computers, Avizheh shared her Science in a Box. She taught us about how volcano's form and work. We also began a quick draw in our visual journals. We're drawing Soohorang. He is a white tiger and one of the mascots of the 2018 winter Olympics.
