This week has been a busy one. We're continuing our math unit on addition and subtraction. Lesson 9 homework was sent home yesterday and lesson 10 homework will be sent home on Friday. We've continued our Olympic writing. The students are excited to share their work with you during Student Led Conferences on March 22nd and 23rd. We will be starting cursive writing on Monday. In social studies, we're coming to the end of our Ukraine unit. There will be no formal test for this unit. Yesterday, the students completed a comparison of the similarities and differences between Canada and Ukraine. In science, students are continuing to learn about hearing and sound. They made a charcoal sketch of the inside of the ear and today they made straw flutes.
Next week, we're starting an exciting writing project. They'll be writing a themed story about freezing. Eventually, these stories will be turned into a published class book.
Reminders:
February 23rd - Spirt day athletic wear – Wear a team jersey or other appropriate clothing from a sport that you play.
Pink Shirt Day
On February 28th PHS will be participating in Pink Shirt day to help raise awareness about bullying and to raise funds for anti-bullying programs. This year our Grade 4 students have been hard at work organizing this event! Students will be selling handmade friendship bracelets to help support the cause #PinkItForward. Bracelets will be on sale for all students and staff members to purchase beginning Monday February 26th – 28th. Bracelets will cost $2.00 and all the money raised will be donated to Kids Help Phone. We encourage everyone to practice kindness and wear pink on February 28th to symbolize that you do not tolerate bullying.
