Today we finished lesson 4 in math. The students have been learning different strategies for estimating sums (i.e. rounding both numbers in the equation to the nearest ten and adding them together). The homework page will be sent home tomorrow. Spelling quizzes were marked and sent home today. The students did very well this week! We spent a big chunk of the day working on our last writing project for our castle unit. The students were asked to write an elaborate detail segment about an object: a crown. They did so well generating questions such as: What colour is the crown? How big is it? How old is it? What makes the crown interesting? They used the answers as their details to write their own sentences. Their rough copies were edited with the teacher. This afternoon the students typed their work and most shared their paragraph by reading it out loud to the class. A copy of their crown paragraph was sent home today.
