Today we started our morning with math. The lesson focused
on using mental math strategies to add. We had music and gym. After gym we had
spelling. Before lunch, we discussed our Olympic research project. Today,
the students randomly picked an event to research. Many of these
events are new to the students. After lunch, they used computers to find
information on the sport they're researching. They also picked a Canadian
athlete to research about. They will follow this athlete throughout the Olympics. We
had writing and character circle. For character circle, we read the book, “Everyone
makes Mistakes” by Christine MacLean. We discussed how making mistakes is a
part of life and how all people make mistakes. Sometimes they’re small mistakes
and sometimes they’re big mistakes. We also learn from our mistakes.
**The students in our class will have an opportunity to
participate in the morning announcements. We will be reading facts about the
2018 Winter Olympics on the announcements. If your child comes home with a
blurb about the Olympics, please help them practice at home**
